A big weekend of racing. No real ‘good things’ but here are some i’ve backed over the two days.

Race 4 No.1-MASLOW $5
have to admit he is not ‘one of mine’ but feel he has found a race that sets up well. I’d have backed ZIEMBA and or DREAMREACHER if they’d run here but they have decided to run in other races so we will see if they pulled the right rein. Initial thought here was JEWELIANA was the obvious. The gate wasn’t a big concern but the slow tempo with the gate was. For that reason I just have a slight lean to MASLOW, should be able to land in the first 4-5 settling and with cover. Forget last start when he went back to last, still 2nd best L200 of the race and jock sat up before the post.

Race 5 No.1-THE CANDY MAN $2.90
He’s just better than this lot. Hard EF surface my only query, if we get rain on the day he just wins. Last start was good enough, I said in a few placed I wanted to take him on from the good gate at Doomben back in trip. On the back up, out to 1800m on a big track looks ideal.

Race 8 No.7- MISS FABULASS $4.20
She was the best of the day ew at the $7.50 TAB opened at. She’d been good in better races in Syd before finding a race with tempo and even though she only got clear late she savaged the line and was excellent after the line. She should relish EF and from the gate should be able to land in front of 4-5 settling. Short enough now but goes on top.

Roughie- Race 9 No.11-DENARIUS $14/$4.20
Got a share in BOOMTOWN LASS, she’s hard to beat from the good gate, I’ve got her going for prizemoney and she looks too short for mine so I’ve looked for value. DENARIUS has been very good his last few, just has the avg get back pattern. Has got a long way back in his last three and they have all been slow run races. This will be run fast and EF will be more to his liking. He has run the fastest L200m in two of those last three runs. Looks a bit of value and actually think he might start longer odds than $14.
