The blackbookers from the GCTC can be found at the Gibbo’s Tips page : https://www.gctc.com.au/gibbos-tips/

Here’s a look at EF:

Race 1:

Just forgetting this race completely. The three that dominated the market went back over the 1000m and they went at a slow tempo. Forgive them all an pretend it didn’t happen. SECRET TALES ran last but you simply want see her best until 1300m+

Race 2:

LEGAL ESPIRIT simply far too good and this made it a Toowoomba race to race double. This horse has a super overall record and no reason why it doesn’t keep winning. A couple of other went ok but didn’t say ‘back me next time’. If they wanted to go back to the right GC race with MISHANI SNIPER he can win there again soon.

Race 3:

It was an even tempo but like most on the day up near the speed was the place to be. SAMURAI has improved at the Moore stable and got the perfect ride her. Proved too good over the last 100m to get the cash. SAFEEYA and MOSSHIKI were horrible. INDIAN DREAMER again ran very well but the fact he can’t get out of the gates means he’s a horse you simply can’t back over these shorter trips.

Race 4:

They went 14.6L slower than benchmark. What a low race!

Race 5:

Even tempo here and all honors to the winner TWO SMOKIN BARRELS. He went to the lead and went along at an even tempo. Since getting out to the 2000m+ he is a new horse and he can just bowl along and keep kicking. That’s exactly what he did here and was a dominant 4.3L winner at his first go to 2400m. WARP SPEED pulled up with some issues so you have to be forgiving there. The others are a plain lot.

Race 6:

I give up with DUSTY TYCOON, I thought she was placed ok her first two runs back and she was plain at them both. She’d had a throat operation and after those runs I had to lay her. Out she comes like a new horse after heavy support and pisses in. What a sport! GENZAI THE WOLF just always run well here and he was super from the back with the big weight. JETSKI best L200m but that’s what he does, nothing to see there.

Race 7:

Because the on speeders had been winning we witnessed some weird tactics here. CHAMPAGNE AUNTY proved way too good in the end anyway. She has been running through brick walls, like most of the Tregea runners over the last three months and she went out nearly 10L faster than benchmark. He is just turning horses into winning machines up on the range! They rode to beat the fav on SPANISH POINT and put that horse way too close and he punctured badly. PREDICTABLE MISS and I COULD DO BETTER were both brave and the Waller runner just needs some sting out of the ground to be at his best.

Race 8:

I was surprised to see ROYAL HALE land so close but off a tempo that suited and with weight relief he was able to kick and hold them all off. PEPPI LA FEW is showing signs that he might be nearing a win off another good effort. RUN FOR GLORY will be a lot better for the run and is another who can be competitive his next couple and build into the prep.

Race 9:

AVOWAL’s effort here was huge! Cowan asked him to run the best splits in the race from the 1000m-600m and to think he was only beaten 1.3L is incredible. They don’t win doing that at EF but with the track playing to the front it nearly worked. It was set up for something to swoop and it was BARNEY’S LAW who was the only one to come out of the pack and was able to go right over the top. He’s got these runs in him and did it in style here.

*Still hearing stories of kickback and horses wheels spinning or not letting down. All of that doesn’t help a punt on this track. No doubt in the world it’s started to look like a front runners track and looks very hard to make ground. Problem is everything about this track changes all the time and it’s purely a confidence thing for me (lack of it) when punting is my issue. If i’m departing with hard earned, I want to know at least what I’m dealing with.
