HEART’S PUMPING
Show A Heart (pictured) has shown just why he has won Queensland Champion Stallion for the past three years – and is in the running for making it a quadrella.
The weekend saw the Glenlogan Park sire deliver another five winners in just two days, including a winning double at Eagle Farm with 3yo filly Strip Show and 5yo gelding Prost.
Both horses have now strung back to back victories in town and have the ability to compete at much higher levels.
Then on Sunday at the Sunshine Coast, Show A Heart gallopers claimed an impressive three of the four events he was represented in.
The talented trio included Woorim’s little brother, Bribie, Restless Heart and Show Me An Ace who now has three wins and two seconds from just six starts.
Another big weekend looms for Show A Heart, with Toorak Toff and Woorim representing Queensland in the G1 Toorak Handicap.
FIRST 2YOS TO FIRE
The first metropolitan two year old races of the season in Queensland kick off this Saturday at Eagle Farm and in contrast to last season big nominations have been received.
In the Colts and Geldings division, 13 nominations have been taken representing stables from Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba and Barcaldine.
The Fillies has 25 nominations with multiple representatives from trainers John Thompson (Patinack), Brian Guy and Liam Birchley.
The winner of the Fitton Hopeful Plate, the first 2yo race in the Country, Crown of Coureuse (pictured – Twb Turf Club) has been nominated.
With a field limit of 14, a ballot will be likely.
MINING REMINDER
The TBQA is still seeking submissions from stud owners whose properties are at risk from mining.
Earlier this year we forwarded copies of an independent report commissioned by Throughbred Breeders Australia.
Mining is a real threat to many areas in Queensland and we cannot afford to be complacent, it is vital we prepare now to safeguard our, and our children’s, future.
You can contact the TBQA office via info@queenslandbreeders.com.au if you would like a copy of the report.
