Stakes winning two-year-old Choistar will join the stallion roster at Clear Mountain Fairview as a freshman sire for the 2011 breeding season.
An outstanding first season sire prospect, Choistar possesses the whole package for breeders – pedigree, performance and conformation.
The only son of Choisir to stand in Queensland, Choistar collected Black Type honours when he recorded daylight margins in the Listed AJC Fernhill Handicap by five lengths.
During Choistar’s racing career, he defeated track superstars Shoot Out and Captain Sonador and was runner-up to Carrara, Onemorenomore, Tickets, Manhattan Rain and Graceful Anna in Group Company.
“Choistar competed with the best juveniles of his era and was always right in the finish,” Clear Mountain Fairview stud manager Mick Frappell said.
“Choistar also performed on wet tracks and was versatile and tough, all great traits in a sire.
“He is a big strong attractive stallion combined with first-class quality.
“We believe he is ready made for Queensland mare owners who want to breed early maturing progeny and have a crack at the QTIS prizemoney.
“Choistar is the first son of Choisir to stand at stud in Queensland and on top of that, he is a Stakes winner at two,” Frappell ended.
Choistar, now a four-year-old, is an ideal sire for any mare as he is well-muscled, strong, an ideal size, with correct legs, a lovely temperament and is bred 4×4 to Biscay.
Rated as one of Choisir’s top performers, Choistar’s very promising career was disappointingly cut short after being galloped on in the 2010 $1M Magic Millions 3YO Trophy.
Choistar will stand at $4,400 (inc. GST) in his freshman year at stud.
Associate sires for the 2011 breeding season at Clear Mountain Fairview is Group 1 winning two-year-old Outback Prince ($11,000 inc. GST), Queensland’s leading Second Season Sire (2009-10) in Tycoon Ruler ($4,400 inc. GST) and son of Kingmambo, Zaha ($6,600 inc. GST).
