After we got the Caulfield Cup trifecta, why not have a look at the Cox Plate. Nowhere near as confident this week and looks a more even race with a few questions.
I don’t see a very hot tempo at all. ZAAKI may have to push forward but I’d suspect they let is cross on ALLIGATOR BLOOD and take a sit on that horse. Maher has stated they want to be more positive with King Colorado with the light weight but that would be the only unexpected speed for me.
Everyone connected to ROMANTIC WARRIOR wanted to say he was good going into the Turbull but after he failed they are now saying he needed it and has gone ahead leaps and bounds. If that’s the case (and I do think it is) he is the horse to beat. He may even map a length off the leader or sit one out, one back. He’s a star and he found a more than winnable Cox plate.
MILITARIZE is the one I don’t know what to do with. I think he is a very, very good horse and this trip with the light weight is perfect. He’s not hopeless out of the gates but really needs to hold some sort of spot here or it might be an impossible task. If it all works out for him, I think he can beat these.
Want to respect VICTORIAN ROAD who is in one of the world’s best stables. Liked the way he’s had to fight in a couple of his replays and he won’t be laying down late.
I’m not a big ALLIGATOR BLOOD man but he maps to get every possible chance and could give a kick. FAN GIRL and GOLD TRIP are airborne at the moment but may get back and need luck on their side (or very good rides).
*I feel it should suit those on speed but overall it’s not a race I will be investing heavily on.
