Interstate thoughts

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

This is one of the best days racing of the year. Unfortunately it’s one of the hardest as well. I like Flemington and try to find some value where possible on these days. Will just give thoughts on the races that half interest me and you can do what you want with the info.

Have a great weekend.

(More to be added leading into Saturday)

FLEMINGTON:

Race 3:

Always love these 3yr old races with them getting out in trip first time. Never easy but this is a good race as you’d expect with a full field.

APULIA looks a little the obvious off an eye-catching run and with blinkers going back on 3rd up. First time past 1500m is a little query but is by Fiorente and expect him to run it out for a stable going well.

The unknown for me is KOSEGI at $13. Looks a real stayer to me and has been really good in weaker/shorter races that haven’t been run to suit. Hard to get a guide off those runs, I just feel watching him that he could improve sharply if he gets some luck in running.

Not sure how to line up RIFF ROCKET but it’s Jmac/Waller combo and does look to have talent. It might be the fly in the ointment. RIPROAR has a nice action and a genuine winning hope also.

My Bets: Splitting win bets #12 KOSEGI $13 and #5 APULIA $5

Race 4:

I thought LEGACIES was under the right odds last start and was a bit plain. Surprised she is so short again. Initial thoughts here were with the cheap purchase SUBRISING $21. Has had the best L200m in her last three starts and just keeps attacking the line. Winkers on, should get to the right part of the track and out in distance is ideal. She will be a winning result for me. But just a lean to COCO SUN at the $34/$7.50 now. She is lightly raced and to my eye just wants to get out in trip. She may want further than this again but the big track and to a mile will still suit. Recent jumpout was really good and just seems the wrong price at $34.

My Bets: Backing #6 COCO SUN $34 and smaller bet #9 SUBRISING $21

Race 5:

Think there is very little between STRETAN ANGEL who is lightly raced and has a stack of upside. She was very good on this track last time out and has a big future. While I AM UNSTOPPABLE and ARCHO NACHOS went head to head last start and very little between them. It was a gap back to the 3rd horse that day. Not sure I bet but may have a QUINELLA of the three of them and play with them in early quaddie legs.

ROSEHIL SELECTIONS:

Race 7 #1 NUMERIAN $19/$4.50

Just feel there are some overrated horses in this and not much tempo. He should get across and Maloney should be able to steal a cheap sectional. If that happens then the $19 is the wrong price. More than happy to have a small play each way him.

Race 9 #5 MAGIC TIME $3.70

Lightly raced horse on the way up. Comes out of a good G3 and was huge late there. Has won 3 of 5 an with any luck in running can be winning here again.

SYDNEY QUADDIE (races 7-8-9-10)

1,4,6,14

2,5,10,12,16
