BRADBURY’S LUCK added yet another stakes winner to his ever growing resume yesterday when classy 3YO filly She Can Skate defied all others to win the $120,000 Listed A.R. Creswick Stakes at Flemington.

A veteran of just the 5 lifetime starts (3 wins and 2 placings), the daughter of Bradbury’s Luck was having her first start down the straight and was rising sharply in grade, however she answered all challenges in terrific fashion and now looks set for a very bright career indeed.

Trained by the likeable Geoff Wheeler, the filly provided her mentor with his biggest thrill in racing.

“I had been trying to win a city race for 25 years and this filly gave me that honour just 2 weeks ago,” Wheeler said. “Now she has given me a stakes win as well. This is amazing!”

Ridden by Wheeler’s son Reece in yesterday’s event, the filly will now be aimed at the Victorian spring carnival.

“She is a high quality filly and she is improving all the time,” Wheeler snr added. “We will probably give her one more run before a freshen up and then let her have her chance against the best of them in the spring.

“I think she is up to it and I am sure she will only get better as she matures.”

The black-type success for She Can Skate came on a day when three other Glenlogan Park sired offspring also achieved stakes performances for the first time.

Jet Spur’s 2YO colt Jet Down It and the Falvelon pair of Someday and I’m Cool also added black type to their name.
