A bit of news getting around the traps.

*SOLZHENITSYN has been retired after an injury on Saturday. He has been a star for Rob Heathcote with two Group 1’s and it will be sad for the  stable to lose such a champ.

*KALABEK looked ordinary on Saturday but was galloped on and you just have to forgive the run (even if you did your $ cold like me!)newspaper

*ARABIAN GOLD was the class horse in the Roses and she had a far superior turn of foot. The big question that has divided opinion is will she win the Oaks as easy as the Roses? Although her task looks a little easier with TELEPATHIC most likely to head to the Derby, I feel she will start under the odds and horses like ROCK DIVA will be more than competitive getting to the bigger track across the road…. Just on that, many southern punters may not realise how much difference there is between Doomben and Eagle Farm. Eagle Farm is a much larger track and when dry it is a lot better to do form as most horses get their chance. As we have seen lately at Doomben sometimes you simply have to ride for luck and hold your position closer to the fence until you actually straighten because if you take off just before the corner and come 4+ wide you lose too many lengths on the tight corner. There will be some massive form reversals in the next month.

The only problem is if Eagle Farm gets rain it will not be pretty.

*LUCKY NINE has recorded back to back victories in the International Sprint in Kranji.

*Just wanted to mention a couple of Sires that are having really good years. Each person has their favourite sires etc and one of mine is DENMAN. PINCH RIVER and SHIGERU SENDEN got the job done for the promising sire again on the weekend and I’m sure there are more to come! (Matt Dunn’s Denman yearling pictured). The other is I AM INVINCIBLE who is throwing winners at every corner!Denman filly

*All reports are MOUNT ATHOS will be heading back to Melbourne this year and a start in the Caulfield Cup may be on the cards as his lead up.

*A few showers around Brisbane again early in the week again. Fingers crossed we miss the most of it like the last couple of weeks and have a great track for Doomben 10,000 day this weekend!
