Pinstripe Lane on track for Group 1 glory

*Here is another update on Malua star PINSTRIPE LANE, I should have added into the article earlier in the week but had the opportunity to add a really good video too.

Three year Colt Pinstripe Lane, owned by the famous William Street Syndicate is currently in Brisbane preparing for the Queensland Derby to be run at Eagle Farm on Saturday June 7. With the experience of the VRC Derby last spring well and truly behind him Pinstripe has shown great improvement this campaign coming off a good spell.Pinstripe Lane

It was a modest beginning to his Derby assault as he struggled to come across the firm ground and distance range he requires and early in May it was decided to put him on a float and take him up north to Sydney. The following Saturday he stepped out at Rosehill in a benchmark 75 for 3 year olds and blew everyone away with a dominant win. It was the kind of staying display we had long thought he had in him but it took us all by shock with the suddenness of him deciding to show us.

The travel and the clockwise direction of racing seems to have agreed with him as he then went further north to Brisbane and the track at Doomben to have his final lead in race in the Grand Prix over 2200 metres where he was seen to be bolting on the turn before running into trouble in the straight before getting out late and accelerating into third before being awarded second place after a stewards protest.

The winner had no such traffic problems and going to the bigger track and the extra distance at Eagle Farm for the derby will only be more favourable for our boy.

Pictured here on Wednesday afternoon trackside looking bright and well, Pinstripe Lane will have one more piece of fast work next week before ticking over to the big race on June 7.
