Quick news update

*Interesting to note the PATTERN COMMITTEE has upgraded around 22 races for the coming year. No surprise to see NSW get around 10 races upgraded to Group level while QLD got the pointy end of the Pineapple again with 3 races being upgraded:newspaper

-The Roses 2000m at Doomben is now Group 2.

-The Sunshine Coast Guineas 1600m is now a Group 3

-The Ken Russell Memorial 1200m Gold Coast is now a Group 3.

*I guess something is better than nothing? Which other races would they look at is a good question and I have not looked closely enough at it.

*MR O’CEIREN has been penalised 0.5kg in the Caulfield Cup and will carry 53kg.

*A weird circumstance in Melbourne yesterday when Daniel Moor and David Hayes had an easy winner in Aajwaad, only to be disqualified for weighing in light as a lead bag was accidently left off the horse by (I believe) a Hayes employee. It is a shame for all involved and I know punters will be upset by this but it is one of many little things/accidents that can happen in this game. They can be bitter pills but they will continue to happen.

*Hong Kong sprinter LUCKY NINE has arrived for its tilt at some of the spring riches. It will be very interesting to see how the horse measures up. You would be shocked if he didn’t acquit himself well.

*Grand old campaigner (and QLDer) SHOOT OUT has been retired. What a great horse he was!!
