The rain has been falling in Sydney and all reports are a slow track and showers Saturday looks to be what we will be dealing with. For our interview leading into the weekend I thought why not go to the man who has the favourite in the Epsom- Steve Farley.
He has done a fantastic job with the son of Umatilla, and he has the horse progressing well in the Epsom heading towards a Cox plate run. Steve said he feels the horse is going extremely well. “ He is very well in himself, it is hard to say he would improve off a group 1 victory, but he does, he looks better.” I also asked Farley what path he would take after this run on the weekend. “He will probably run in the Caulfied stakes 2000m the week later (then to the Cox plate).”
Steve did seem pretty bullish about Sincero’s chances, and he has another horse that he has rejuvenated and has in career best form in Gazza Guru. He believes that the horse is again a first 4 chance in the Cravan plate on Saturday. “He’s a happy horse and is racing consistently. He has always had the ability but is now relaxing and doing everything right in his races. He gets through the wet tracks but I do think he is a bit better and has a turn of foot on the dry.” Farley said.
Just talking to Steve you can hear the passion he has for his horses and he has done such a good job, especially with these two horses and I hope they do the job for him. Sincero will be a chance in the Cox plate, and Gazza Guru heads to the Tatts cup. Another horse that won well over the Grafton carnival was Little Vicki and she can be followed next preparation as Steve thinks she will come on a bit this time in work.
