One of my favourite clubs WARWICK is racing Tuesday. I went to do a full preview but time got the better of me. I got through the first four races but the first three interested me the most.
Here are my thoughts for what it’s worth.
Warwick Races 16/2
Race 1:
Always tricky when 5 of the 6 riders are apprentices. Tough way to start the day and just a slight lean to FELZONE. Will land in the first 2-3 settling and comes here off a win over the trip. It was also in similar grade so has to be competitive again. Impossible to catch CALL ME LEGEND but up to this trip suits and this is easier than what he usually bumps into.
Selections 2-1
Race 2:
The obvious looks ELKA ELEVEN who has placed in 5 of 7. Comes here off a couple of placing’s and likely to punch forward from the awkward gate. Should be hard to beat. SEIZETHEMOMENT showed very little at the first prep but the latest run was off a break was a big improvement. A repeat of that effort goes close in this. SASANQUAS two runs back this prep have had merit. She has no speed early and that’s a big issue. She ran the best L200m of the race (this track) fresh and the 2nd best L200m last start. She gets blinkers on and Murphy to ride. Should be strong late if close enough and $19/$4.80 is enough for me to have a peanut on e/w.

Race 3:
LAURIE looks the one who has upside. The debut run was good when racing a bit tight and the latest effort also good late. Just needs a bit of luck from the gate to be the horse they all have to beat. A little surprised they didn’t claim off the 59kg. Next best might be HISGRACE. Can really mix form and be hard to catch though. A repeat of the run would go close but hard to forget it is a 17 start maiden and had plenty of chances. Could back #1 and save #11 at current prices.
